The Order of Carmelites in the Philippines celebrated the feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of Our Lady of Mount Carmel last July 16, 2018. In Metro Manila, different Carmelite communities in the area gathered at the Titus Brandsma Center in New Manila, Quezon City for a joint celebration of brotherhood, family, and friendship together with the co-workers and other guests from the different parishes managed by the Order and partners in its ministries, like the Young Carmel Philippines Foundation and the Institute of Spirituality in Asia.
The program started with a mass in the morning presided by Prior Provincial Fr. Artemio Jusayan, O.Carm., with Fr. Martin Pierik, O.Carm. as homilist. Games then followed until the afternoon, and then a joint evening meditation led by the novices of the Order. The day concluded with dinner and a short program that highlighted the talents of the different members of the different communities. The Order also celebrated the 28th Sacerdotal Anniversary of Fr. Jun Adeva, O.Carm, who was ordained a priest on July 16, 1990.
The communities that participated in the activity are the Provincialate Community, John of the Cross Community, Teresa of Avila Community, St. Elijah Student Friary, and the Spring of Carmel Novitiate.
